Christmas Outreach-Please help!!!

HELP US HELP Alternatives for Battered Women

This Christmas season we are turning our attention to those in need. This year we would like to invite you to help us in supplying items for the Alternatives for Battered Women shelter.
As an office we have had so much fun adopting a family. We adopted a family of four and had so much fun filling their wish list. Spiderman was top of the list in requests from the little boys! There were also baby dolls, skateboards, bedding and clothing.  Here is a photo of our office before delivery last night.

The drop off location was manned by the Robotics team at East Ridge Highschool  doing some volunteer community service. What a great group of energetic kids!

What can you do to help? The shelter is also in need of many other donated items.

They have a "shop" that the residents and their children can go to to choose Christmas gifts for each other and there are specific items that they have told us would be useful. If you could supply an item or contribute monetarily in any way so that we may purchase items we would be so appreciative.

Here is a list of items they have requested:
New Women's bathrobes, pajamas and slippers
Bath sets (lotions, soaps, shampoos, etc)
Firetrucks
Trains
African American Baby dolls
Barbies

We will be collecting supplies through December 17th.

Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Healthy and SOFT desserts for fall!

Frozen Banana Ice Cream made with just bananas! No added sugar, no dairy, no fat. No rock salt or ice cream maker required.

Do you love ice cream? who doesn't? and it's great with braces. But still a lot of sugar right?
Here is a yummy alternative. Banana ice cream made with frozen bananas. And I don't really even like bananas. But this is awesome!
There are those machines you can get for making frozen desserts out of bananas called a Yonannas machine. They are great, but in this recipe they just used a regular food processor and it looks great. I love the idea of adding the peanut butter. I think a touch of chocolate sauce would be awesome too. I'm thinking of trying a little canned pumpkin in it for a Thanksgiving treat.

Find the recipe here: Frozen Banana Ice Cream

Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Unusual Toothpaste Flavors

I recently came across an article titles 20 unusual toothpaste flavors. Really interesting flavors! In researching some of them I found them to be fakes (Oreo flavored Crest-wouldn't that be cool?) but there were a few real ones. Check them out:

This sounds really yummy.

Get yours HERE.

You can get that one HERE.
What about this one? I don't think personally I would like that but I know a lot of people who would!

Accoutrements Mr. Bacon's 2.5 Oz Bacon Flavored Toothpaste
You can get that one HERE.

And Pickle toothpaste! Really? I really thought this was going to turn out to be fake too but it's real!

Looks like this one has been discontinued though. Wonder why??

You can also get Cupcake and Bacon flavored floss and tooth picks! Stocking stuffers??

Let me know if you try one!

Keep smiling!

Braces Friendly Food!

Lately I have been trying to find healthy breakfast and snack ideas for my kids, who do not like to eat breakfast all that much. They then tend to grab something not so healthy later in the day!

I recently came across something on Pinterest (I LOVE Pinterest!) that looked yummy and had to try it.  It's called overnight oatmeal, and can be made many different ways. It can be low calorie (for me!) or higher calorie for those who need it. I realized that this would make a great braces-friendly breakfast too!

The first one I tried was for my son and husband. It's called Chunky Monkey Overnight Oatmeal. Who could resist the sound of that?? And guess what? They both loved it!

Here is where I found it:
Chunky Monkey Overnight Oats

What I used to make it lower in calories is Wegmans light banana yogurt, and Organic Powdered peanut butter.

The oats get nice and soft- no chewing involved!
For myself I made a blue berry version that I found here:
Blueberry Muffin Overnight Oats

Just make up a bunch of them in mason jars and store in the fridge for a quick healthy breakfast!

Enjoy,

Business Person of the Year!

Wow! We were so excited to find out that I was selected as Greece New York's Business Person of the Year through the Greece Chamber of Commerce. What a surprise and what an honor!

We had a wonderful banquet at the Marriot. There were also awards given for new building projects in the area, senior citizen of the year and the Girlie Goodwin Citizen of the year.
Here's a picture of me with my family and some of the girls from my office.

Thanks to everyone for all of the cards and congratulations. It would not have been possible without all of YOU!

Show your Teeth Some LOVE!

Is this not the most appropriate valentines card for me ever? I got it from my husband I just love it! Inside it says "We are MINT to be together". Cute, huh?

Besides being Valentine's Day last week, February is also Dental Health Month! So why not show your teeth a little love this month.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

* Are you up to date on your dental cleanings and check ups?
* Be careful with between meal snacks and soda
* Brush at least 2 times daily for 2 minutes each
* Floss every day or use Soft Picks (ask me if you are not sure what these are-they are my favorite substitute for flossing!)
* Use a fluoride mouthwash for kids (Act has one that has no alcohol in it)

And I have a dental puzzle for the kids: click HERE to download it.

Have a good break week and keep smiling!

Happy National Dress up your Pet day!

Did you know that today is National Dress Up Your Pet Day?

I recently came across this list of holidays for each day of the year. Click here to check them out.
Who knew there were so many holidays??

Do you dress up your pet?
How cute are these kitties.

Check and see what holiday falls on your birthday!

By the way, today is also National Hot Pastrami Day.

And January is National Get Organized Month, and National Oatmeal month. Who comes up with these?

But best of all it is Cuckoo Dancing Week! Woohoo! What's that all about? I checked it out, and it is a tribute to Laurel and Hardy and a song made famous in their opening credits called the Cuckoo Song.tional Hot Pastrami Sandwich Day
